Creative Wairua (formly Porangi Carvings) was established by husband and wife duo Brendon and Ginnine,  Living in Loganlea, Brisbane QLD

Brendon (Master Carver) creates Unique Wood & Sculptures for any and every Occasion.

Brendon has been carving for over 35 years, hails from Tewhakarewatangaoteopetauaawahiao (Rotorua) where he was born and bred until he relocated with his family to Brisbane. Brendon is a master carver, learning his technique and craft from some of the most influential master carvers in Rotorua, New Zealand. The work that Brendon creates is to the highest quality and standard, making his technique and craft sought after. He is an old school carver and a leader in his field. Surrounded by their 6 children and grandchildren, Brendon and Ginnine have a continuous flow of love and warmth in their home which is also where their workshop is.

We will work with our customers to decide on the style/requirements of the piece. During this process we have the privilege of hearing customers beautiful stories, memories, moments, history, love of why each piece is important, and what it represents to the family. Each piece is custom made for the recipient. This makes our pieces extremely unique because no two pieces of our wood carvings are the same.

We have a very traditional approach to our carvings which has a huge component of spirituality (wairua) and respect. We beginning and end our day with a pray, our pieces are covered when they are not being worked on, we do not consume food within our workshop. We ask that if you do come on site (to our workshop) that our carver is not interrupted. We treat each piece as a living being and during these moments of creation we only want their story to be captured and carved. Thank you in advance for understanding.
